The four ways to work with us

These are the engagement types published on BusinessConsulting.ca's pricing page, which Doin.ca follows.

Engagement Price (CAD) How Doin.ca uses it
Hourly consulting $175–$350/hour One-off planning sessions, a single stuck-point session, or occasional check-ins
Project $3,500–$25,000 per project A six-week action plan, a stalled project restart or a habits and calendar reset, with milestone payments
Monthly retainer $2,500–$12,000/month Ongoing weekly check-ins and accountability coaching
Growth Partner Program Custom A results-linked arrangement where Ali puts in time first and is paid against agreed, measurable outcomes; only a limited number are offered

Canadian clients add GST/HST by province to all of the above.

What drives the cost

The price depends mostly on how much of Ali's time your engagement needs. Four things matter:

  1. How often we meet. A weekly 30-minute check-in is the base. Adding monthly pattern reviews or a second weekly touchpoint adds time.
  2. How many people are coached. One owner costs less than two partners each keeping their own commitments.
  3. Whether a project runs alongside. A stalled project restart during ongoing coaching adds a stuck-point session and extra focus.
  4. How much preparation each session needs. Reviewing documents, financial summaries or plans before calls takes time we account for.

What doesn't drive cost: your industry, your province or your revenue. We don't price based on what we think a business can afford.

A worked example of choosing

Here's how an owner might reason about it. Suppose your hourly value to the business, the amount the work only you can do is worth, is around $150. If coaching helps you protect and use just four more productive hours a week, that's roughly $600 a week, or about $2,600 a month, in owner time put to better use.

That doesn't mean coaching will pay for itself. Whether those hours turn into revenue depends on what you do with them. But it gives you a way to judge the decision with your own numbers instead of ours. If you can't see how four better hours a week would matter, coaching probably isn't your first priority.

How to choose

  • Not sure coaching suits you? Start with a stalled project restart or a few hourly sessions. Small, focused and easy to judge.
  • Clear goals, no follow-through? A six-week action plan plus weekly check-ins is the usual start.
  • Tried coaching before and lost momentum? Accountability coaching on a retainer gives you a full year of structure.
  • Large, measurable growth goal? Ask about the Growth Partner Program in your first conversation.

What you're paying for

You're paying for a standing appointment and an honest reader of your commitments, not for documents. Most of the value sits in the weekly check-in itself: 30 minutes where someone remembers exactly what you promised last week and asks about it.

That's also why we keep engagements small at the start. A six-week plan with check-ins is enough to show whether the format helps you. If it does, you continue. If it doesn't, you've spent a modest amount to learn something useful about how you work.

What's confirmed in writing

Anything a reader would reasonably want pinned down, such as billing dates, notice periods or what happens to unused sessions, is confirmed in writing in your proposal. We don't add terms here that the published pricing doesn't state.

Every action plan and commitment note is sent to you as you go, so you keep a full copy of your own record whether or not you continue.

Frequently asked questions

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. The initial 30-minute consultation is free with no obligation. It's a chance to see whether coaching suits you and which engagement type fits.

Is there a minimum contract?

No lock-in. You can stop when coaching has done its job or isn't helping. Any notice period or billing detail is set out in writing in your proposal.

Do you charge GST or HST?

Prices are in Canadian dollars, and Canadian clients add GST/HST at their province's rate (GST and QST in Quebec). Your proposal and invoices show the tax separately.

What is the Growth Partner Program?

It's a performance-based partnership offered through the parent practice, where Ali invests time upfront and is paid on measurable results. Partnerships are limited and priced individually.

Why a range instead of a fixed price?

Because the time involved differs. A solo owner with weekly 30-minute check-ins needs far less than a two-partner business with monthly reviews and a stalled project restart running alongside. Your proposal states the exact figure.
