These are the questions owners ask most often before starting execution coaching with Doin.ca. If yours isn't here, call, text or email; asking is free, and the first 30-minute consultation is free too.
Frequently asked questions
How much does execution coaching cost?
Doin.ca uses the group's published rates: $175–$350 per hour, $3,500–$25,000 per project and $2,500–$12,000 per month for retainers, in Canadian dollars. GST/HST is added by province (GST and QST in Quebec). Your proposal gives the exact figure.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
No lock-in. We suggest giving coaching two six-week cycles before judging it, but that's advice, not a condition. Billing and notice details are confirmed in writing in your proposal.
How much of my time does it take?
About 30 minutes a week for the check-in, plus whatever your commitments need. Building a six-week action plan takes roughly three hours in the first week. We size commitments so they fit your real week.
What if I fall behind or miss a week?
It happens to everyone. A missed commitment is information, not failure, and we talk about it in the next check-in. If you miss a call, we agree a new time and carry on.
We tried a coach or consultant before and it didn't stick. Why would this be different?
Often the earlier work was heavy on planning and light on weekly follow-up. Doin.ca is the opposite: small plans and a fixed weekly check-in. If the format still doesn't suit you, you'll know within a few weeks and can stop.
Do you promise results?
No. We don't promise revenue, profit or growth, because those depend on far more than coaching. We do give you a clear weekly record of what you committed to and what you finished, so you can judge the value yourself.
How do you report progress?
After each check-in you get a short note of next week's commitments. Every six weeks we review your record: commitments made, how many were kept, and which ones keep slipping.
Who owns my action plans and notes?
Every plan and note is sent to you as we go, so you always hold a full copy of your own record. Any further detail on records is confirmed in your proposal.
Do you meet in person?
No, but you can. Coaching happens in person or by video call, and you can reach us between sessions by call, text or email. That's how we work with owners across Canada.
Do you work with my industry?
Very likely. The method is about commitments and follow-through, which apply to trades, retail, professional services, hospitality and most owner-led businesses. Our published case studies come from HVAC marketing and are labelled that way.
Can you also do the work, like our marketing or hiring?
Not through Doin.ca. We coach you to do or delegate the work. If you need delivery, other practices in the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group may help, and we'll tell you honestly where to look.
Is my information kept confidential?
We treat what you share in coaching as confidential business information and use it only to coach you. Our privacy page explains how we handle phone, text and email contact.
How quickly can we start?
Usually within a week or two of the first conversation, depending on schedules. We usually reply within one business day when you get in touch.
Money and commitment
Coaching is priced within the group's published consulting ranges, and there is no lock-in. The detail sits on the pricing page, including how hourly, project and retainer work differ.
A quick way to think about value: compare the monthly cost against what a few better-used owner hours each week are worth to you. If those hours wouldn't change much, coaching may not be your first priority, and we'll say so.
How the coaching works
The structure is simple: a short action plan, a 30-minute weekly check-in and an honest record. You commit to a few things each week. We ask about them. Slips get discussed, not punished, and the next week is sized to fit.
Owners sometimes worry it will feel like reporting to a boss. In practice it feels more like a standing appointment with someone who remembers what you said last week, which most owners never have.
When things go wrong
Bad weeks are part of the work. Busy seasons, sick kids, broken equipment and staff shortages all happen. The check-in exists for those weeks too.
Three rules help:
- Don't cancel because you're behind. Those are the most useful calls.
- Shrink, don't skip. In a crushing week, commit to one thing instead of none.
- Name repeat slips. Anything that slips three weeks in a row gets broken down, handed off or dropped.
Is coaching right for you?
Coaching suits owners who already know roughly what they should be doing and keep not doing it. It suits people who respond well to a standing appointment and an honest question. It suits less well if you need someone to make your strategic decisions for you, or to do the work itself.
A quick self-test you can take in two minutes:
- ☐ I have goals for this year that I could write down right now
- ☐ At least one important project has been deferred for three months or more
- ☐ I keep commitments to customers better than commitments to myself
- ☐ I'd show up to a weekly call if someone were expecting me
If you ticked three or four, coaching is likely to help. If you ticked one or none, start with a conversation about strategy instead; our parent practice at BusinessConsulting.ca covers that.
Results and honesty
We won't promise growth. We'll give you a record. That record, kept and slipped commitments over months, is the clearest picture most owners ever get of their own follow-through.
The results page shows real outcomes from our HVAC marketing work, labelled as such, and what they teach about consistent weekly delivery. For background on who leads the work, see about Doin.ca, and for the different ways to start, see services.
Working across Canada
Owners in every province and territory work with us the same way: a fixed weekly call and contact by call, text or email in between. Seasons and local registries differ, so the areas page explains what changes from region to region, from short northern summers to the Atlantic tourist season.
What we won't do
We won't shame you for a bad week, sell you a long program you don't need, or pretend coaching replaces an accountant, lawyer or counsellor. We also won't keep coaching an owner who has clearly outgrown it. When the habit holds without us, we'll suggest you stop.
